Hello and welcome!
My name is Lee Bomzer, let me tell you a little bit about myself.
I am a weight loss expert and a health coach. I hold several certifications which include, Personal Fitness Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor, Fitness Nutrition Coach, Lifestyle Weight Management Specialist, and Physique & Figure Training Specialist. I am also a member of the National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association.
I’m originally from Queens and Long Island. Currently I’m living in New Jersey. I’ve been happily married to the love of my life and my best friend, for over 31 years. I have a beautiful and talented daughter, a very sweet cat, and a lovable Maltese.
I have a passion for food, nutrition, fitness, and how it all connects with health and well-being.
I have always been around food. My dad graduated from culinary school, and was the owner/operator of a gourmet cheese & food shop for most of my life. I spent a lot of time in my dad’s shop. Sometimes I got to play the sample girl, giving out samples of cheese, and I often went with my dad when he had catering jobs. I was proudly his pint-sized assistant and waitress.
I have always loved cooking and baking, even as a little girl.
At 11 years old, I started my first entrepreneurial endeavor: selling pumpkin cakes, which I baked from scratch. My dad sold them for me at his store. Many times I wreaked havoc in my mother’s kitchen while working on my latest culinary creations. (Thankfully, she is a very understanding person, and so I live to tell my tale.)
I’ve spent most of my adult life working in the food industry. I have done catering, managed a college cafeteria, and I’ve been a Food Service Manager & a Department Head for a large supermarket chain, as well as for a major wholesale chain. I like to garden and to decorate. I enjoy painting, drawing, writing, or anything that gives me a chance to be creative, and I still love to cook and bake.
During my life, I’ve seen many of my family and friends suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and struggling with their weight. I have seen people who I cared about going on crash diets while their weights continued to yo-yo, and their health declined. Growing up I learned about restricted diets, because my mom, my dad, and my grandmother were all on them. Food seemed to become the enemy.
From my teen years into adulthood, I also struggled with maintaining my weight. I thought my weight could be controlled through extreme calorie cuts and food deprivation. I had a lot of misconceptions about food and a lot to learn.
Being a professional in the food industry sparked my initial interest in nutrition, but it was my family’s continued struggles with declining health that lit a roaring fire inside of me. I knew that I was going to do everything I could to prevent that from happening to me. I knew I wanted to help others, as well. It was the beginning of my personal journey, and my passion for educating myself in nutrition, food as medicine, fitness, and health grew substantially. Today, I still consistently continue my education, and I regularly keep up on the latest studies and breakthroughs.
I am happy to report that there is no need for food deprivation or starvation when it comes to controlling your weight. In fact, just the opposite is true. You need to eat a wide variety of foods that are filling, tasty, and nutritious in order to control your weight, and most importantly protect your health. With good nutrition and a healthy lifestyle, you can be the best version of yourself.
