Create a Bedtime Routine

Those of us who are parents, know just how important a set bed time and a quite bed time routine can be when it comes to getting small children to sleep at night. The same rules apply to adults, maybe even more so.

Having a regular bedtime helps maintain our bodies natural sleep rhythms. Additionally, after our hectic, stressful, and hurried days, we need some down time to unwind and relax before bed. Creating your own adult bedtime routine will help you switch gears from active and alert, to relaxed and ready for bed.

How to create your bedtime routine:
  • Decide on a reasonable bedtime for yourself, and stick to it. Keep in mind, that getting about 8 hours of unbroken sleep each night is optimal.
  • Take an hour or two before bed each night to engage in some quite relaxing activities such as: reading, listening to some quite music, taking a warm bath, meditating, stretching, or practicing some relaxation yoga. Keep the lights turned down to set a more sleep inducing atmosphere.
