Green tea has many health-boosting properties such antibacterial and antioxidant.  Green tea is even rumored to help with weight loss.

Many studies have been done on the effects of green tea consumption and cancer prevention.
It has been shown that drinking green tea is associated with protection against a variety of human cancers. This is mainly due to components in green tea, which are called Green Tea Catechins (GTC). Researchers believe that one specific GTC, epigallocatechin gallate, can cause the death of cancer cells, arrest progression, and hinder the spreading of prostate cancer.

In countries where green tea consumption is the highest, like Japan, China, and India, studies have found the incidence of prostate cancer to be the lowest. Conversely, the incidence of prostate cancer in America and Europe, were people don’t drink as much green tea, has been found to be the highest. In fact, prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the US, and the second leading cause of cancer deaths for men in America.

It is for these reasons that scientists believe doing even more research into chemoprevention (the prevention of diseases by means of chemical agents, drugs or food nutrients) of prostate cancer is so important. Most recently the focus has been on how Green Tea Catechins aid in the prevention of prostate cancer. A manuscript  was published on May 28, 2015, by the prestigious Department of Epidemiology, Division of Population Sciences, at  H Lee Moffitt Cancer and Research Institute, located in Tampa, Florida. It was in regards to their recent study, on the subject of green tea and chemoprevention of prostate cancer.  In this manuscript, Doctor Nagi B. Kumar and her associates expressed enthusiasm that GTCs did show promise in the chemoprevention of prostate cancer, and warranted further laboratory and clinical research. This could mean big things for future of cancer and cancer research. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to one day think of prostate cancer, and maybe even other cancers, as a thing of the past?

What do you think?
I think I’ll go ponder these thoughts over a nice, relaxing cup of green tea!
