Plyometrics are a form of cardio exercise, also known as jump training. These seven moves are guaranteed to make you sweat!
For a quick cardio workout, do each of these moves for 30 – 60 seconds each, with a 30 – 45 second break in between each exercise. For a longer workout, repeat the whole sequence. You can also add in a few moves from 11 Alternatives to Running on a Treadmill.
Make sure to have plenty of water handy, and to include a warm up and cool down. Also, don’t be afraid to extend the length of your breaks, if you need to.
Low Jack
Start in a low squat, and keep low as you jump your feet in and out.
Puddle Jumps
Pretend you’re jumping over a large puddle as you spring from side to side.
Squat Thrusts
Remember doing these in gym class? They really get the job done!
Steam Engine
Here’s a move to work your heart, and your abs! Go faster and faster, for about 50 seconds.
Squat Jumps
Squat all the way down & touch the floor, then stand and jump as high as you can.
Lunge Jumps
Lunge directly to one side, come back to center, and jump for the ceiling! Then, repeat in the other direction, and so on.
Super Star!
Switch feet as you backwards lunge. This is a great plyometric move.
